Time for a rant. Right here right now.
So, I just wrote almost a whole post and accidentally pressed the “backwards” button on my mouse and LOST IT ALL. This was going to be quite a bitchy post anyways, but now I’m just fucking irritated. Well, let’s try to cover all this shit again.
So, I’ve been sick for the past few days and that’s really been a bitch. Well, today atleast. I won’t go into the details too much for the SECOND time, but let’s just say this flu sucks big time. And partly because of this I’ve been feeling really “uncreative” today, even though I’d have quite a few things to do, like the third and last game demo for the game development course at school. The thing just is, that demo just doesn’t really have enough “game” for me to get inspired on. And if that wasn’t enough, I’m having a major “not-knowing-what-I-wanna-do”-syndrome again. I’ve been really trying to focus on learning 3D modeling lately, but now I’m having some inspiration to do some good old 2D art too. And for the last game demo I’d have to do programming, 3D and 2D art, designing and all that jazz, but I don’t feel like doing any of it.
But what I’d like to do? I’m really been itching to do a Magical Drop clone. If you don’t know what Magical Drop is, it’s an arcade puzzle game, Google it or something. So here’s the thing. Magical Drop 5 was released about 6 months ago, but it’s still struggling to keep it’s playerbase active because of bugs and what not. So I’ve started thinking of trying to recreating the core gameplay and mechanics of the game, just to see how hard it would be to get it right. Because, you know, the controlls and movement of the MD5 have really been bugging me from the getgo. There’s quite a bit more into this thing, but I don’t wanna make this post overly long.
And yeah, Icebreaker is kinda on a hiatus I guess. Too much stuff going on ATM but once summer kicks in I’ll try to get more involved with that. And yeah, I’ve managed to “recruit” a friend of mine into making the game with me. He’ll be working the code from now on so I’ll have time to work on my 3D-modeling skills.
